– frequently in the news, we’re proud to be able to offer a new qualification to help you make sure you and your team get it right.
The new course covers the legislation surrounding the use of mechanical restraints such as handcuffs, and teaches learners their safe and
effective use in a lawful manner.
Who is this qualification for?
This programme is aimed at learners who have already gained an SIA licence, along with civil enforcement and community safety accredited persons. This programme allows them to expand their knowledge on the use of mechanical restraints in a safe and lawful manner.
Entry requirements
To undertake this qualification, learners must be 18+. As part of the entry requirements learners should have current Security Industry applicable physical skills e.g. physical intervention or
control and restraint qualifications, however, military, police, prison service etc experience is also appropriate. It is also recommended that learners have a basic level of English before enrolling
onto this course.
How long will it take?
The total qualification time for this qualification is 12 hours, 8 which are recommended as guided learning hours. As a result we deliver this as a full one day course.

The programme covers the law and legislation surrounding the use of mechanical restraints and teaches learners the safe and effective use of mechanical restraints.
Assessment method
This qualification is assessed by an open response workbook and practical assessment.
