Level 2 Award in the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health and Care Settings (RQF)

 

Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is designed to support current or new staff who work in health and care settings such as care homes, health centres, surgeries and childcare settings and gives them underpinning knowledge of how to prevent and control the spread of infection.

 

How long will it take?

The total qualification time for this qualification is 7 hours, all of which are recommended as guided learning hours.

 

Topics covered

Learners gaining this qualification will understand common infections and the chain of infection, the importance of correct hand washing procedures, the principles of personal protective equipment, the decontamination process, waste management proceduers and roles and responsibilities in preventing infection.

 

Assessment method

This qualification is assessed by a multiple-choice examination in which learners must score 17 out of 25 in order to pass.
