Level 4 HACCP qualification is aimed at learners either at, or working towards, a management level in a catering or manufacturing business. Achievement of either of these qualifications will enable learners to understand the importance of implementing a food safety management system, based on the Codex HACCP principles, and give learners the skills to evaluate HACCP plans critically.
It is recommended that individuals have already completed a Level 4 Award in Food Safety, or the equivalent, and/or a Level 3 HACCP qualification before attending this course.

Who is this qualification for?
The Highfield Level 4 Award in HACCP for Management (CODEX Principles) (RQF) is aimed at learners who are working at a management level within food manufacturing and catering environments, quality assurance staff or members of the HACCP team. The qualification would also be useful for trainers, auditors, enforcers and other food safety professionals.
How long will it take?
This qualification is achieved by taking a 5 day classroom based course.
Topics covered
These include understanding the importance of Codex based HACCP food safety management proceedures, how to manage, develop and evaluate them.
Assessment method
This qualification is assessed by a written examination that must be completed within 2.5 hours. The examination consists of 2 sections. There is a mandatory pass mark of 60% for each section of
the exam.
Section A: Learners should attempt all the questions in this section. The recommended duration of this section of the exam is 90 minutes. Successful learners will need to achieve at least 36 out of a
possible 60 marks to achieve a pass.
Section B: Consists of 3 questions with a possible 40 marks. Learners should attempt to complete 2 of the possible 3 questions in this section. The recommended duration of this section of the exam is
60 minutes. Successful learners will need to achieve at least 24 out of a possible 40 marks to achieve a pass.
Marks from both sections of the exam will be added together to determine the learners overall grade. Learners will achieve a pass if they achieve 60%, a merit at 70% and a distinction at 80%.
