Under the Private Security Industry Authority Act 2001, all individuals wishing to work in the private security industry must undertake a recognised qualification before applying for a licence.
The Highfield Level 3 Certificate for Working as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry (RQF) has been developed to meet the requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA). It is based on the relevant SIA ‘Specifications for Learning and Qualifications for Close Protection Operatives’ and provides the necessary skills and knowledge for those who wish to apply for an SIA licence and work as a close protection operative.
This accredited qualification is ideal for those who wish work as a Close Protection Operative within the Private Security Industry and apply for an SIA Licence in this field and provides the learner with the necessary knowledge and understanding of the Private Security Industry. Subjects covered include roles and responsibilities of the Close Protection Operative, threat assessment and risk management, surveillance techniques and venue security operations.
The qualification comprises three mandatory units:
Unit 1 - Conflict Management within the Private Security Industry
Unit 2 - Working as a Close Protection Operative
Unit 3 - Planning, Preparing and Supporting a close Protection Operation

Individuals achieving this qualification can progress onto a range of qualifications such as the Foundation Degree in Protective Security Management. Individuals successfully completing the licence to practice qualification in Close Protection can be awarded 16 credits towards this Foundation Degree and also the Foundation Degree in Crowd and Safety Management and the Certificate in Terrorism Studies.
Our next course runs for 14 consecutive long days from Thursday 26th March 2020 to Wednesday 8th April 2020 in Moulton, Northampton.
The cost for this is just £1100 per person, or £1300 if you do not hold atleast a Level 3 First Aid Qualification which will be delivered in additon to the above 14 days.
