Level 1 Awards in Food Safety.

These food safety qualifications have been developed to ensure that employees from all food sectors are equipped with a basic knowledge of food safety to enable them to produce safe food.

Entry for these qualifications needs no former knowledge of food safety and they are therefore ideal for use as part of a company induction programme. They could also be used as refresher training to maintain and improve food safety standards within an organisation.

Level 1 Award in Food Safety in Catering.

 This qualification focuses on the importance of food safety in the catering and hospitality sectors and provides food handlers with the knowledge of how they can contribute to product safety. Before starting work for the first time, food handlers need to be aware of the hazards and controls associated with food in catering operations. This qualification provides learners with information on preventing contamination, temperature abuse of food and the destruction of bacteria by thorough cooking. The importance of good personal hygiene, cleaning, waste management and recognising and reporting signs of pests are also stressed.

On achieving this qualification candidates will be equipped with the knowledge to enable them to provide safe food thus assisting their employer’s business in complying with the law.

This qualification is achieved by taking a half-day classroom based course. It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, where the candidates must answer atleast 10 out of 15 questions correctly. The examination will take a maximum of 30 minutes to complete.

 

This course is only availble for group bookings of 6 or more either at our Sywell centre or at your premises.

This qualification focuses on the importance of food safety in manufacturing and provides food handlers with the knowledge of how they can contribute to product safety. It is suitable for those employed in both high and low-risk manufacturers. Before starting work for the first time food handlers need to be aware of the hazards and controls associated with manufactured food. This qualification provides learners with information on preventing contamination and to temperature control. The importance of good personal hygiene, cleaning, waste management and recognising and reporting signs of pests are also stressed.

On achieving this qualification candidates will be equipped with the knowledge to enable them to provide safe food thus assisting the business in complying with the law.
