The new JRCALC guidelines now recommend the use of Penthrox for emergency pain relief in the UK. Working in partnership with The ATACC Group, we are authorised trainers for Penthrox®.
Penthrox® is also known as ‘The Green Whistle’ and is geared towards transforming the management of emergency pain relief and has helped emergency healthcare professionals treat patients quickly and effectively for many years in Australia and New Zealand.
The innovative pocket-sized inhaler delivers an analgesic medicine quickly to accident victims and trauma patients. Penthrox contains methoxyflurane, a pain relieving medicine, which is delivered via the small, handheld inhaler to provide fast, effective pain relief within 6 – 10 breaths.
Penthrox® is cost effective, small and lightweight when compared with Entonox and can be included as part of a range of pain relieving options. It’s simple, fast acting, can be self-administered by the patient. It is well recognised as an effective treatment option for conscious patients who require the emergency relief of moderate to severe acute pain.
It can be used in the management of pain following trauma including burns, fractures, dislocations.
Course content includes:

Penthrox is a prescription-only medication but NOT a controlled drug, and can be administered by non-healthcare professionals (such as First Aiders, First Responders or Rescue Technicians) who have received authorised training and where the use of Penthrox® is covered by an organisation’s operating procedure or Patient Group Directive.
