Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness (RQF)

With the introduction of Benedict’s Law, it is now a statutory requirement for schools to ensure that staff are appropriately trained in allergy management.

Intended Audience

The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Allergy and Anaphylaxis Awareness (RQF) is a regulated and nationally recognised qualification that forms part of the First Aid Suite of qualifications. It is specifically designed to meet the staff training requirement of Benedict’s Law. This qualification provides effective allergy awareness training to staff, helping schools to fulfil their responsibilities in supporting the wellbeing and inclusion of children and young people with allergies.

 

Overview

Learners will develop the knowledge, and confidence to recognise the symptoms of an allergic reaction and act promptly to provide potentially life-saving support when every second counts.

 

What's Covered

Over 2 hours, topics covered include:

  • Understand how to safely manage allergy in schools
  • To understand what an allergy is and how allergic reactions occur
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and asthma
  • How to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected anaphylaxis or having an asthma attack
  • How to treat an allergic reaction
  • Understand the impact allergies can have on a child’s wellbeing
  • How to report and record incidents

This qualification is suitable for learners over the age of 16.
